Tanya Clark, PhD

Dr. Tanya Clark is an Assistant Professor of English at Morehouse College, where she specializes in 19th and 20th-century African American and American literature, African American literary criticism, and Women’s and Gender Studies. Her passion for horror, magical realism, and sci-fi informs her focus on Afrofuturism, which she uses to explore themes of Black identity, agency, and liberation. Dr. Clark’s work with the MMJ initiative focuses on Using Technology to Transform the Humanities, and is developing an interdisciplinary course called "Literary Atlanta: Mapping the Black Mecca of the South through Literature and Service." This course integrates literary analysis, archival research, mapping technology, and service learning to explore Atlanta's rich history, culture, and speculative futures.
