The purpose of the convening was to invite the community of scholars, artists, and partnering organizations aligned in efforts to link enslavement to the criminal justice system, fight for civil rights, prevent Black land loss, ensure cultural and environmental sustainability, and produce thought-provoking music, art, books, and film.

This convening was part of the process of reclamation. We invited common thought partners to join us in this work.
