Stephane Dunn, PhD, MFA
Chair, Professor of Cinema, Television and Emerging Media Studies, Morehouse College
Dr. Dunn is a writer, filmmaker, professor, and cultural scholar whose commentaries have been featured on NPR, Newsweek, The Atlantic, Vogue, and others. Dr. Dunn’s scholarship in American and African American film and media explores the politics of race and gender in the development of the industry throughout different periods, including throughout the Gone With the Wind exhibit at the Margaret Mitchell House and in her book Baad Bitches & Sassy Supermamas: Black Power Action Films. Exploring the historical and contemporary intersection of race, gender, and class underlines her creative intellectual work as well, which encompasses a novel, Snitchers, plays, screenwriting, and short films, including Madam Divan, her current narrative short, which lifts the veil on very early African American women filmmakers.
