Samuel T. Livingston, PhD

Associate Professor of Africana Studies, Morehouse College

Dr. Samuel T. Livingston is an Associate Professor of Africana Studies whose scholar-activism explores Diasporic liberation movements as they evidence transgenerational memory and articulate expansive notion of justice.  A Gullah native from the North Santee Community of Georgetown, South Carolina, he applies an African-centered approach as he teaches a range of courses including those with a MMJ-focus: Black Liberation Movements, African Diasporic Cultures: The Gullah-Geechee Experience, and The Black Aesthetic of Hip Hop.  Livingston is the author of several essays and articles and is editing a book on the Gullah-Geechee Roots of African American Cultures of Resistance. He is a father, teacher and scholar-activist who works with the Friends of the Congo organization for the past decade.
